The October regular meeting held on Tuesday 6th October was not just an ordinary lodge meeting conducting normal lodge business.
Looking at the agenda it looked to be a rather slim agenda. The lodge being opened up in the usual manner observed amongst masons, we were then joined by a contingent from the Gillingham Lodge of Benevolence #184, who were strong in number. We then balloted for 3 joining members after a successful ballot, the Worshipful master welcomed the three newest members: W.Bro Anthony Clark PPGStdB (Devon) , W.Bro Ian Cunningham (LGR), and Bro Terry Stockwell PPAGDC and invited them to take there seats amongst the Bretheren and issued them with Adams Lodge bylaws.
The charity Steward reported to the lodge that the local hospital was looking for funds for an AI machine to help dementia patients along with other patients to aid in their rest and recovery. Adams lodge were proud to accept a proposal and voted on the proposition of £500, (in a recent Adams chapter £500 was also donated) other Island lodges are following a similar amount and it is believed Island Mason’s will raise the £5000 necessary for this fabulous peice of equipment.
The lodge was closed after about 20 minutes and our ladies were invited into the lodge room where our very own W.Bro Ron Ball PPGSwdB was presented with a Grand Lodge Certificate marking 50years in Freemasonry.
This certificate was presented along with a “this is your life” style interview by V.W.Bro Roger Odd. The presentation was attended by W. Bro Ron’s wife including many other partners (and some from 184) along with several grand lodge officers which included W.Bro Trevor Carter PPSGD the Assistant Provincial Grand Master and Provincial Grand Master designate, who on this occasion was attending in a private capacity as an invited guest of the star of the show W.Bro Ron Ball.
After the presentation a white table festive board was enjoyed by the ladies and bretheren. Toast were to the King and Craft, The Grand Master: HRH the Duke of Kent, and for the Last time the Provincial Grand Master: W. Bro Neil Hamilton Johnstone (and on this occasion to the PGM designate also), to our guests and visitors which was responded to by V.W.Bro Odd and also the Worshipful Master of Gillingham lodge of Benevolence and a final toast to absent Bretheren at 21:30.
