The first regular meeting of Adams Lodge No.158 following the summer recess was held on Tuesday 1st September, marking a welcome return to harmony, fellowship, and the steady rhythm of Masonic labour. The evening combined reflection and renewal: a heartfelt tribute to a departed Brother, whose memory remains deeply cherished, and the initiation of a new candidate embarking on his Masonic journey.
The Lodge was opened in due form by the Worshipful Master, W. Bro Aaron Janes, supported by his officers and the Master extended warm greetings to the Brethren, expressing his pleasure at seeing the Lodge reunited after the summer break.
Visitors from other lodges were welcomed, and the Master noted the significance of beginning the new Masonic season with both remembrance and growth.
The Lodge paused to honour the memory of W. Bro Colin Corder PPAGDC, who passed to the Grand Lodge above during the summer recess. W. Bro Peter Pordage PPGReg delivered a sincere and dignified tribute, reflecting on Colins long service, steady character, and unwavering commitment to the Craft.
The Brethren then stood in silent respect in his honour.
The principal business of the evening was the initiation of Mr Ollie Baxter. The ceremony was conducted with solemnity and precision, demonstrating the Lodge’s commitment to ritual excellence.
The candidate was prepared in accordance with ancient custom and entrusted to the care of the Junior Deacon. The Worshipful Master delivered the ceremony with clarity and warmth, ensuring the candidate felt both the gravity and the welcome inherent in the First Degree.
The addresses were delivered with sincerity, offering guidance on the moral and symbolic foundations of the Craft. The Brethren greeted the newly‑made Brother with genuine enthusiasm, marking the beginning of his journey in Freemasonry.
The Lodge was closed in due form, and the Brethren retired to the Festive Board. The atmosphere was lively and fraternal, with conversation flowing easily after the summer break.
