Our regular meeting held last Tuesday (5th November) held mixed emotions for the brethren.
Firstly, we had to report the sad loss of W.Bro Ian Douglas Bishop who was a well respected member of our lodge, a great friend to many and a inspiring mentor to others! We heard a heart felt eulogy given by W.Bro Peter Pordage which was both beautiful and emotional.
After the emotional opening of our meeting we were then treated to a fantastically conducted 2nd Degree ceremony, to pass Bro.Baker, who performed his part with confidence.
And finally before the closing of the lodge a tribute was paid to those brethren who lost their lives during two world wars, with the “Epitaph to the Fallen”, given by W.Bro Clive Boosey. At the festive board afterwards we heard a recital of the poem “In Flanders Fields” by W.Bro Colin Corder, both of which to mark remembrance weekend.
We are now looking forward to our Christmas meeting in early December – don’t forget to invite your friends, family and guests to the festive Christmas dinner after the meeting!
