Last week on Tuesday 1st October was our regular meeting and what a fantastic evening it was! We welcomed numerous guests and visitors including our good friends from the Gillingham Lodge of Benevolence No. 184, Grand Lodge officers and Worshipful Bro. Trevor Carter – Past Junior Grand Deacon, Assistant Provincial Grand Master for the Province of East Kent, accompanied by active Provincial Officers.
The highlight of the evening was a certificate presentation to our own Worship Bro. Allan Melrose PPJGW. The presentation was given by Worshipful Bro. Trevor Carter and was for 60 years of continuous service to Freemasonry.
Worshipful Bro, Allan Melrose was initiated into St Mary Lodge No. 31 in Scotland in 1964 and since then has dedicated his life to the craft! Not only did Worship Bro. Allan Melrose receive a certificate from the Province of East Kent. but he also received from The Grand Lodge of Antient Free and Accepted Masons of Scotland and 60 years service certificate together with a celebratory breast jewel!
The evening was completed in finest tradition with the festive board tables being decorated with both English and Scottish flags. Worship Bro. Allan then gave a fantastic ‘Address to the Haggis’, after which we enjoyed a starter of haggis, mash and swede accompanied by a ‘wee dram of whiskey’!
Congratulations to Worship Bro. Allan! We all thoroughly enjoyed the evening and we are proud to have you as a member of Adams Lodge No. 158!
